Stories Shared to Help Others Avoid Scams

Real experiences. Shared anonymously.

Learned collectively.

Scams don’t happen because people are careless.
They happen because situations are engineered.

If something felt off, confusing, rushed, or emotionally loaded — that’s usually the point.

On this page, you'll find real scam experiences shared anonymously by people who thought they were being careful, informed, or prepared. Some lost money. Some didn’t. Some noticed the red flags too late. Others noticed them just in time.

All of these stories matter.

You don’t need to write perfectly.
You don’t need to explain everything.
You don’t need to justify why it happened.

Sharing what you remember — even roughly — helps reveal patterns that are hard to see alone.

Have a story or near-miss to share?

Your experience isn’t a confession — it’s evidence that helps others recognize similar situations.

Learning happens collectively. Awareness grows through shared experience.

Below are real stories people chose to share — short summaries of how scams actually unfolded.
