Cold outreach scam job offer
When inflated rates are used to bypass skepticism

I received an email from someone claiming to represent a well know professional network. He/she contacted me three times first with an offer for $600/hr, yes, you heard that right. $600per hour
Two days later i received another email this time the rate had gone up to 650. Then a day after that it was up to $700/hr.
Except this time, the subject line said $500/hr, but inside the message it said $700/hour.
I found that the mistake telling. Also, the rate was ridiculous, and none of my past experience was related to the proposed role. It was super vague asking for someone with experinece in the Captive / Consortium Benefits space.
like, wtf is that? Does anyone know what that is caude i don't. Also ive reveiced many emails from recruiters before and the emails didn't read like they came from one. It just said that they were seeking experience from proffessional with that space and said it would be a first 30 -60 minute call and asked for my phone number.
They also provided a link to set up a canlendly meeting.
Now here is the strange part. I looked up the name that was inside that email on lniked in. And yes, indeed, there was a linked in account with that name and which actually put the name of the company as their place of current occupation. Honestly, the linked in acconut was very thing, just graduation with 1 job experience. And the photo of the account looked like a stock photo. But the craziest part is that the person had linkedin premium!
So im like, okay, are the scammers just finding ways to get linkedin premium accounts., cos a non premium account could be easily faked. But a premium one less so. or (more likely) they are using real names of people to send these ridiculous emails with ridiculous rates knowing that if you search the person, you will find them on the interent, so are more likely to click on their bullshit calendly link or give them your number.
Has anyone experience something similar?
